The Windward Islands Cricket Board (WICB) is seeking a visionary, highly skilled, and passionate Head Coach to lead the Windward Islands Volcanoes Senior Men’s Franchise. This pivotal role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced elite coach to shape the strategic direction of our senior team, optimize player performance, and drive sustained success across regional formats (West Indies Championship & Super50 Cup).

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Position Title: Head Coach (Senior Men)
  • Primary Base: Official Franchise Base (Saint Lucia) / Travel Required
  • Contract Term: Performance-Based Contract
  • Reporting To: Executive Management / Cricket Operations

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Head Coach will hold overall technical responsibility for designing and executing a high-performance framework that elevates team competitiveness, maximizes individual talent, and fosters a culture of discipline and excellence across the squad.

 

CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• High-Performance Strategy & Planning:

  1.  Design and execute a comprehensive, year-long holistic technical, tactical, and strategic performance program for the senior squad.
  2. Establish clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to benchmark, evaluate, and track individual player progression and overall team results

• Match Preparation & Game Strategy:

  1. Develop match-specific game plans, tactical strategies, and targeted remedial programs to enhance squad execution in multi-day and limited-overs formats.
  2. Lead technical bench decisions and matchday operations in close collaboration with the Team Captain and selection panels.

• Integrated Athletic & Mental Development:

  1. Direct and integrate strength, conditioning, and recovery protocols in coordination with the Strength & Conditioning Coach and Physiotherapist.
  2. Oversee specialized mental preparation and player wellness programs alongside sports science personnel and Cricket Operations.

• Culture, Standards & Team Leadership:

  1. Establish and enforce rigorous team protocols, professional standards, and operational discipline in partnership with franchise management.
  2. Manage squad dynamics proactively, resolve conflicts constructively, and cultivate a competitive, resilient high-performance environment.

• Reporting & Accountability:

  1. Deliver detailed technical, physical, and tactical reports to executive management following each tournament leg and competitive phase.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Coaching Certification: CWI Level 3 Coaching Certificate (or equivalent international elite accreditation, such as ECB Level 3/4 or Cricket Australia Level 3). Candidates with significant first-class coaching experience holding a CWI Level 2 certificate may be considered.

• Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience in coaching high-performance, first-class, or professional franchise cricket teams.

• Technical Skills: Deep expertise in modern tactical trends, video analysis software, data-driven performance management, and athlete development.

• Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership capabilities, strategic vision, and strong interpersonal skills under high-pressure competitive conditions.
