The future of Windward Islands cricket will be on full display this August as the Windwards’ under-17 team prepares to bring home the trophy in the 2025 CWI Under-17 Championship in Trinidad.
The team will travel to Trinidad on August 7, ahead of the tournament, which runs from August 10 to September 2, 2025. The competition will feature three rounds of two-day matches, followed by five rounds of 50-over games, offering a vital opportunity for young players to test themselves at the regional level.
To enhance their readiness, the squad will participate in a pre-tournament training camp at the Couva Cricket Centre, which will include two 50-over warm-up matches against the Trinidad and Tobago Under-17 team. The camp is designed to help players adapt to local conditions, build team chemistry, and sharpen tactical execution ahead of their first official match on August 12.
The team will be led by Captain Theo Edward, whose leadership on and off the field will be pivotal to the team’s success.
“Even though this is a young team, I believe we have plenty of skill to get the job done,” said Head Coach Clyde Telesford. “The pre-tournament camp should be very beneficial in helping the boys gel and get comfortable with the conditions before we begin official play.”
