Castries, St. Lucia – Theo Edward finished the tournament with four consecutive centuries to seal the championship for St. Lucia in the Winlott Windward Islands Boys Under 15 cricket tournament. They defeated St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the final to ensure the trophy remains at home.
At the closing ceremony, Edward starred with his historic most runs performance, ending the tournament with 540 runs at an average of 135. He was also the MVP of his team.
Daren Sammy Cricket Ground SVG won the toss and asked St. Lucia to take first knock as they did on their previous encounter. Edward capitalized as he did two days earlier, scoring 104 off only 78 balls. Tyler Venner, with a calculated 70 off 116 balls, helped the St Lucians to get to a winning total of 270 for 7 wickets. SVG’s captain Jorden Charles showed some promise with his 22 off 16 balls, including 5 classy boundaries, but once he fell to a beautiful return catch by Venner, the result was anticipated by most. SVG only managed to get to 110 runs. Leon Alexander, with his leg spin, took 4 for 39 off his 10 overs. St. Lucia won the title emphatically by 160 runs.
3rd Place Playoff
Gros Islet Earsinho Fontaine put Dominica in the driver’s seat against Grenada with an exact century off 75 balls to set up a massive total of 369 runs. Desron Mitchell with 4 wickets for 58 runs off his 10 overs was the best bowler for Grenada. In their effort to win their final match of the tournament, the Grenadians got to 185, thanks to 20’s from three players. Aiden Burton picked up 4 wickets for 31 runs. Dominica ended 3rd in the tournament with a comfortable victory of 184 runs.
