Roseau, Dominica – Promising teenage batsman Stephan Pascal will lead the Windward Islands Under 17 team in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under 17 championship. The tournament will be played in Trinidad and Tobago July 17 – 28, 2022.

The young cricketers comprising the Windward Islands team recently competed in the Winlott Windward Islands Under 19 tournament in Dominica. Nine of these players stood out in the just concluded tournament and have also gained selection for the Windward Islands Under 19 team.

Windward Islands Cricket Board (WICB) Technical Director, Miles Bascombe believes this exposure in the Regional Under 17 tournament should strengthen these players’ development.

“It is positive for the future of Windward Islands Cricket to have these players exposed at this early stage. They have shown tremendous promise in the recent Under 19 tournament, and for most to have an opportunity to play consecutive tournaments augurs well for their development,” elaborated Bascombe.

The team is currently in a preparation camp in Dominica. They depart for Trinidad and Tobago on July 17, 2022.
